Merit cum means based scholarship for minority Students:-

Applications for scholarship are invited from the poor and meritorious students belonging to minority communities pursuing professional and technical courses to provide them financial assistance.
The Scheme will be implemented by the State Governments and Union Territory Administrations, which receive 100% central assistance from Government of India for the total expenditure under the scheme.
Every year 20000 scholarships will be distributed among the students of minority communities throughout the country.

Conditions for Scholarship:

Financial assistance will be given to pursue degree and/or post graduate level technical and professional courses from a recognized institution.  
Students who get admission to a college to pursue technical/professional courses, on the basis of a competitive examination will be eligible for the scholarship.
Students who get admission in   technical/professional courses without facing any competitive examination will also be eligible for scholarship.  However, such students should have not less than 50% marks at higher secondary/graduation level. Selection of these students will be done strictly on merit basis.
The annual income of the beneficiary/parent or guardian of beneficiary should not exceed Rs.2.50 lakh from all sources.
The application for release of fund from the state department must be received in the Ministry by 30th of September every year.
30% scholarship will be reserved for girls of each minority community in a state which is transferable to male student of that community in case of non-availability of female candidate in that community in the concerned state.

Eligibility criteria

  4. The annual family income of the beneficiary/parent or guardian of the beneficiary should not exceed Rs.2.50 lakh per annum from all sources.
  5. A student residing in a particular State/UT will be entitled for scholarship under    the quota of that State/UT only irrespective of his place of study.
 How to apply:
Applications in the prescribed format may be submitted to the Secretary of the, deptt. of the concerned State Govt/UT administration, dealing with minority welfare, through the institutions where the students are pursuing technical/professional courses.  The student must submit their applications to the state which he/she belongs to and not to the state where the institution where he/she is studying, is located.

LIC Golden Jubilee Foundation Scholarship scheme 2011

 ‘LIC Golden Jubilee Scholarship Scheme’ offers Scholarships to the meritorious students belonging to the economically weaker families and pursuing higher studies.

Eligibility for Scholarship:

Students who have passed Class XII exam or its equivalent in the Academic Year 2010-11 and are interested to pursue higher education.

1. Medicine, Engineering, Graduation, in any discipline, Diploma Course in any field or other equivalent courses.
Candidates who have passed Class XII exam or equivalent in the Academic year 2010-11 with at least 60% marks or equivalent grade and annual income of whose parents/guardian from all sources does not exceed Rs.60,000/ per annum.

2. Vocational Courses through Government recognized Colleges/Institutes or courses in Industrial Training Institutes (ITI).

The basic educational qualification is relaxed to Class X or equivalent with at least 60% marks in the Academic year 2011 subject to income ceiling of parents/guardians.

Rate of Scholarship:

10,000/- per annum, Rs.1000/ payable monthly for ten months by Cheques to the Beneficiary.

Inspire Scholarship 2011 for Indian Students of Science Streams


Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (INSPIRE) Scholarships from Ministry of Science and Technology (Department of Science and Technology):-

This scheme offers 10,000 scholarships every year to the Indian students Rs.80,000/- each for undertaking Bachelor and Masters level education in the Natural & Basic sciences. The scholarships are limited only to the candidates studying courses in natural/ basic sciences at B.Sc., B.Sc (Hons), integrated M.Sc./MS programs in any one of the recognized institutions in India. The scheme in its current format does not include courses in engineering, medicine, technology and other professional / applied science courses.
Value & Type of Support
Eligible candidates will receive annually Rs.80,000 as scholarship.
Duration of the Support
Selected candidates will be supported for a maximum period of 5 years starting
1st year course in B.Sc., B.Sc. (Hons) and integrated course leading to M.S. or

Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana Fellowship 2011 for Indian Students:-

Eligibility for Fellowships:

These Fellowships are only for the Indian students who are studying in India.
The Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, is offering fellowships (Rs. 4000 to Rs. 7000 p.m) and contingency grants for Indian students studying in Basic Sciences, Engineering and Medicine.
Selection procedures are different for SP (Basic Sciences) and SP (Medicine). All of them, however, include an interview for final selection.

Fellowships are offered for different streams:-

Basic Sciences:

Stream SA: Students enrolled in the XI Standard (Science Subjects) during the academic year 2011-2012 and have secured a minimum of 80% (70% for SC/ST) marks in aggregate in MATHEMATICS and SCIENCE subjects in the X Standard Board Examination.
Stream SX: Students enrolled in Class 12 (+2) of the academic year 2011 - 2012 and aspiring to join undergraduate program in Basic Sciences (B.Sc/B.S./Int. M.Sc) for the session 2012 - 2013 provided they secured a minimum of 80% (70% for SC/ST) marks in aggregate in MATHEMATICS and SCIENCE subjects in the X Standard Board Examination.
Stream SB: Students enrolled in 1st year B. Sc./B.S./Int. M.Sc. during the academic year 2011–2012 and have secured a minimum of 60% (50% for SC/ST) marks in aggregate in SCIENCE subjects in the XII Standard Board Examination.

SP (Basic Sciences):

Students enrolled in XI/XII standard, I/II year (B.Sc../B.S./Int. M.Sc.) in Basic Sciences and I/II year B.E./B.Tech./B.Arch. during the academic year 2011–2012 and have secured a minimum of 60% (50% for SC/ST) marks in aggregate in the X & XII Standard Board Examinations. Additionally students enrolled in the II year B.Sc./B.S./Int. M.Sc/B.E./B.Tech./B.Arch. program must have secured a minimum of 60% (50% for SC/ST) marks in the I year examination. A hard copy of an original and creative Science based research project done by the applicant is required to be submitted along with the application.

Medicine:

Stream SP (Medicine): Students joining First / Second Professional year of MBBS/B.V.Sc/BDS/B.Pharma program during the academic year 2011-2012. Students must have passed XII Standard Board Examination with 80% (70% for SC/ST) marks in aggregate in Science subjects or passed First Professional MBBS/B.V.Sc/BDS/B.Pharma exam with not less than 60% (50% for SC/ST) marks. A Copy of the Bio – Medical research project is required along with the application.

  • Hard copy of the application form can be obtained from KVPY on request by remitting a processing fee*, ** of  `Rs. 200/- (Rs. 100/- for SC/ST) at any core banking branches of STATE BANK OF INDIA, payable at all branches in India into the credit of "Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana(KVPY) A/c.   •  Girl students are exempted from payment of processing fee.
     Physically and visually challenged candidates are exempted from payment of the processing fee.

    • Caste certificate in the case of SC/ST candidate
    • Medical certificate from the prescribed authority in case of physically and visually challenged candidates.
    • Project report in the case of SP (Basic Sciences/Medicine).
    • Copy of the marks statement of the qualifying examination(s), in the case of Stream SP.

Maulana Azad National Fellowship for Minority Students 2011-12


Maulana Azad National Fellowship for Minority Students for the Year 2011-12:

Eligibility for the fellowship:
(i) Candidate should belong to one of the minority communities notified under Section 2 (c) of the National Commission for Minorities Act, 1992.

(ii) Candidate should get admission and registration for regular and full time M.Phil/Ph.D courses in University/Academic Institution by fulfilling conditions of admission of that University/Institution, subject to provisions of the Fellowship as per advertisement of UGC.

(iii) The minority community students once considered eligible for the fellowship shall not be entitled to benefits under any other source, Central or State Government or any other body like UGC for the same study.

(iv) Prior clearance of NET/SLET examination will not be a prerequisite for award of Maulana Azad National Fellowship for minority students for M.Phil/Ph.D.

(v) In order to qualify for the award of JRF/ SRF the UGC norms would be applicable at pre-M.Phil and pre-Ph.D stage, respectively, including the minimum score of 50% at post graduate level.

Nature of Assistance Available Under the Scheme and Rate of Fellowship:

Eligibility for the Loan:
Any Indian Citizen with 40% or more disability.

Eligible Courses:
All courses having employment prospects are eligible.

Loan Amount:
Need based finance subject to the repaying capacity of the parents/ students with the
following ceilings -
1) Studies in India Maximum Rs. 10.00 lace
ii) Studies Abroad Maximum Rs. 20.00 lace

Rate of Interest:
4% p.a.
A rebate of 0.5% on interest to women beneficiaries.

Repayment of Loan:
The loan to be repaid within 7 years after commencement of repayment.
The repayment as per repayment schedule would commence one year
after completion of course or 6 months after securing a job, whichever is
earlier.
iii) Interest on term loan would be charged from the date of disbursement of
loan from NHFDC (grace period as per lending policy is permissible).

Procedure for Obtaining Loan:
Application in the prescribed format to be submitted to the State Channelising
Agency for sanction of load as per the lending policy of National Handicapped
Finance and Development Corporation. The interested students may also apply
directly to NHFDC for education loan assistance.

IndianOil Sports Scholarship 2011:-

Eligibility Criteria:

There will be two categories of scholarship: 'Elite Scholar' and 'Scholar'.

Elite Scholar: Representing the country in team games or national ranking in individual games between 1-5 Junior or Sub-Junior and quarter-finalist of national championship in individual games.

Scholar: Representing the state team in team games or national ranking in individual games between 6 to 10 Junior or Sub-Junior and quarter-finalist of national championship in individual games.
The sports scholarships to be awarded will be for the following games:

Information about West Bengal Govt. Merit-Cum-Means Scholarship Scheme 2011-2012:

Applications are being invited from the poor and meritorious students of west Bengal for providing scholarship for the year 2011-2012 under “West Bengal Government Merit-cum-Means Scholarship Scheme”.

Applicant’s annual family income should be Rs.80, 000/- or less.

Amount of Scholarship and Eligibility:

◙ For Scholarships at Higher Secondary level-Rs.500/- p.m.

Eligibility:-Applicant must obtain at least 75% in aggregate in Madhyamik Pariksha or its equivalent as stated above excluding optional elective subject. Students who are enrolled in Class-XI on passing the Madhyamik Pariksha or its equivalent examination in 2011 will be eligible to apply.

◙ For the Under Graduate level-Rs.750/- to Rs.1500/- p.m.

Eligibility:-Candidates must obtain at least 75% marks, consisting of two language subjects and three best elective subjects. Students who are enrolled in the first year of Under Graduate Course after passing the H.S. Examination or its equivalent as stated above in 2011 will be eligible to apply.

◙ For scholarships at Diploma (Polytechnic) level-Rs. 750/- p.m.

Eligibility:-Students who are enrolled after passing out in Secondary (M.P.) Examination or its equivalent as stated above in 2011 for first year Diploma (Polytechnic) courses (H.S. Examination or its Equivalent for Diploma in Pharmacy or Modern Office Practice & Management of 2 year duration) and after passing-out in „West Bengal State Council of Vocational Education & Training courses which is equivalent to H.S. Examination for 2nd year Diploma (Polytechnic) courses on lateral entry basis will be eligible to apply. Candidates must obtain at least 75% marks in aggregate (excluding the marks secured in the optional elective subject, if any).

◙ For the Post-Graduate level scholarships-Rs.1200/- to Rs.1400/- p.m.

Eligibility:-Applicant must obtain at least 55% marks in Honours subjects at the Graduation level. Students who are enrolled in the first year class of Post Graduate Course in general education after passing the Graduation with Honours in 2011 will be eligible to apply.

Microsoft Research India Ph.D Fellowships has been provided to Ph.D students at Indian universities pursuing doctoral education in computer science and related areas.
